DIY DONUT DOORMAT

DIYs...I can't get enough of them!  This doormat was originally supposed to be stamped with lemon and grapefruit prints but it didn't quite work out because the mat I picked was too coarse to show the segments. So, after stamping it I realized that the fruit actually looked like donuts...and a new idea was born!

We live in an apartment and we try to give it as much character and charm as we can considering we don't own the space. This fun little welcome mat sits outside in the hall to give visitors a sense of what to except inside...a homey space that screams "We live here!"

As like most of my DIYs, this was really easy. Here's what you'll need:

  • 2 circular objects for stamping - I used half a grapefruit and half a lemon, but you could use sponges!
  • paint colours of your choice
  • paint brushes for sprinkle details
  • mat
Just paint your stamps and press them onto the mat! Add your details with a paint brush and voila, it's honestly that easy! If you want a more defined print, I'd recommend a lower pile mat, or something that isn't as coarse as the one I picked.

In case you need any more convincing to try this for yourself, it's Oliver approved!

Let me know if you give this a try! I'd love to see how you re-create it, or your new ideas!
