SUMMER BLUES

It's been a while but Andrew and I finally made time to set out with the camera in hand! It's been a busy summer - we spend most of our weekends on the road. It's what happens when your family doesn't live in the same city as you! We spend time in the GTA and in Muskoka and a few weekends here and before we know it summer is over. I'm not in any way wishing away the summer because I live for these months, but it's a busy time!

Taking time for yourself is so important these days. Life is so busy and so fast-paced. I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about the pressure, whether unspoken or not, to with everything. With social media being everywhere, I sometimes find it challenging to unplug completely. Over the next few weeks I'm going to make a conscious effort to unplug. I work in marketing so I spend all day glued to a computer screen, keeping up with trends, and scouring social media. There's something to be said about turning off the phone, screens, TV, whatever it may be and having a few quiet hours each night to unwind from the day. Have you tried this? Are you up for challenging yourself to turn off your electronics every night and give yourself at least an hour to unplug before bed?

After dinner last week Andrew and I piled into the car and headed to Mer Bleue - the conservation area in the east end of the city. A walk around the bog and a few animal sightings (a turtle, beaver, and a groundhog!) was a great way to end the day. I may have been the only person wearing inappropriate footwear, but my dress was extremely comfortable and I love that it can be dressed up and down depending on the time of day and your accessories! It reminds me of this dress that I bought last summer.

I picked up this dress at Joe Fresh last week and I really love it. I have the long sleeve version in burgundy and grey from last fall so when I saw a sleeveless version of it I hardly had to think about whether or not it would be a great purchase - that was a given. I love that Joe Fresh is affordable fashion that is attainable for everyone. I've heard both sides of the spectrum from many people, but I'm a die-hard Joe Fresh supporter through and through.  I've worn this hat before and noted that it's a great transition piece for summer to fall.

If there's one thing I've realized recently, taking time for me is so important and re-charging my batteries is key - for me, spending time outside and in the sunshine is energizing. How do you cope with the overwhelming feeling of always being connected? Do you make a conscious effort to disengage from the screens every day, a few times a week and take time for you? Let me know!

  1. I find it virtually impossible to put my phone down. I hate that. I'm usually seen with an iPad in one hand and iPhone in the other. I need help!!! Lol!

You look stunning, btw. Such beautiful photography always!
